Participate in the DRIC Defkalion workshops for the presentation of advanced technologies in the sectors of Earth Observation, GIS Applications and Spatial Analysis

The Disaster Resilience Innovation Cluster – Defkalion (DRIC Defkalion) organises a series of workshops within the Work Area “Earth Observation, GIS Applications, and Spatial Analysis”, which will take place online from February 16 to March 16, 2022 every Wednesday, starting at 16:00.

The purpose of the workshops is to inform about innovative technologies and solutions for the prevention, response and remediation of environmental risks. More specifically, the workshops will focus on recording and evaluating key challenges that the specific Work Area faces in relation to the management and response to natural and environmental crises. 7 of the 40 members of DRIC Defkalion, specialised in this Area, will present existing tools and solutions aimed at enhancing the efforts to effectively manage and response to natural disasters, environmental crises and civil protection emergencies, to minimize damage and to achieve long-term sustainability.

Geosystems Hellas is the leading body of the Work Area “Earth Observation, GIS Applications, and Spatial Analysis”, for the 1st current period of DRIC Defkalion’ s activities. The 7 workshops of this Work Area will cover the topics that follow. The working language is Greek.

Lecture Topics:
  1. “Multiple risk analysis using new technologies and Earth Observation data. Example of application in fuel mapping” implemented by OMIKRON Environmental Consultants
  2. “The impact of climate change on coastal vulnerability to dormancy and erosion – Presentation of monitoring and mapping methods using land observation data” implemented by Consortis
  3. “Modern geospatial technologies in the management of forest fires” implemented by the Laboratory of Forest Management and Remote Sensing of AUTh
  4. “Over time evolution of natural disasters and impact assessment using satellite technologies” implemented by Epsilon Malta
  5. “Long-term monitoring of coastline change – problems in coastal settlements and ports” implemented by Geosystems Hellas
  6. “Multimodal fusion of EO and non-EO data for Big Data analytics” implemented by the Information Technologies Institute, CERTH
  7. “Monitoring and programming system for the collection of very high-resolution satellite images for the prevention-response-remediation of environmental hazards” implemented by TotalView
