Το Εργαστήριο Περιβαλλοντικών Ερευνών (ΕΠΕΡ) ανήκει στο Ινστιτούτο Πυρηνικών & Ραδιολογικών Επιστημών & Τεχνολογίας, Ενέργειας & Ασφάλειας (Ι.Π.Ρ.Ε.Τ.Ε.Α.) του ΕΚΕΦΕ «Δ». Το ΕΠΕΡ διαθέτει 25-ετή εμπειρία στην παραγωγή επιστημονικής γνώσης και καινοτόμων εργαλείων στα πεδία του Περιβάλλοντος και της Κλίματος, συμβάλλοντας στην προστασία του περιβάλλοντος και την αειφόρο ανάπτυξη σε περιφερειακό και παγκόσμιο επίπεδο. Το Εργαστήριο πραγματοποιεί έρευνα και ανάπτυξη στις περιοχές κλιματική αλλαγή με περιφερειακά μοντέλα, δυναμική υποβάθμιση κλίμακας, στη προγνωστική – διαγνωστική μετεωρολογία και στην αφομοίωση δεδομένων. Επίσης, πραγματοποιεί έρευνα και ανάπτυξη στη μοντελοποίηση συστημάτων με μεθόδους υπολογιστικής μηχανικής, στα συστήματα υποστήριξης αποφάσεων, στη διασπορά ατμοσφαιρικών ρύπων, ποιότητα αέρα, σε συνδυασμό με προηγμένη ανάλυση κινδύνου και εκτιμήσεις επιπτώσεων σε θέματα μείζονος ερευνητικής εστίασης.
